BIIN PROGRAMS
BIIN Cares is a program dedicated to meeting the emergent needs, specific to our local immigrant community. As immigration policies continue to change, our immigrant neighbors face unprecedented challenges; making the need for support and accessibility to resources vital to navigate the shifting landscape. We currently have two initiatives: the Helping Hands Fund and the Immigrant Legal Aid Fund. Click their name to find out more!
HISTORY:
BIIN Cares was first launched in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. While many American citizens faced significant financial challenges during this time—and received relief through stimulus checks—our immigrant community did not have access to such support. However, thanks to the efforts of BIIN Cares, the program was able to raise funds to assist with bills and provide essential support to our immigrant neighbors.
The Brazos Interfaith Immigration Network reinstated the BIIN Cares program in August 2025 to continue serving our community—this time, to support local university students. Did you know that in June 2025,Texas Dream Act (2001) was repealed, forcing many Texas college students to confront uncertainty about their academic futures? The repeal of the Texas Dream Act created sudden increases in tuition—from in-state to out-of-state— just weeks before the start of the Fall semester for many students. As a response, the BIIN Cares Program was able to fundraise over $12,000 dollars and established the Fulfill the Dream Scholarship. The scholarship supported local Texas A&M students who experienced these sudden tuition changes. This repeal is just one example of the many policy changes targeting immigrant communities today.
Regardless of future policy changes, BIIN Cares remains committed to supporting and addressing the urgent needs of our immigrant neighbors. Donate today to help us continue providing vital aid when it’s needed most!
